He won numerous awards over the years, never had an empty page in his bookings diary and his music is still in demand almost 5 years after his death. He was loved and respected in life, his memory and music lives on after his death, so I would love to see him achieve an award to mark who and what he was.
Name: Bonita - Nomination: June Dillon
Reason: I would like to nominate my mother June Dillon. Sadly deceased, but during her life she selflessly worked for years to support and promote British Country Music at its best. For 15 years both my mother and my father Noel Dillon (now retired living in Spain). ran a very successful country music club in Dawley and Brosely Telford. After my father showcased at Pontins and took to the stage himself, my mother was the driving force that not only during their time, took my father and his band right to the top of the British Country music scene, to win numerous awards over the years including nearly every club award in the UK, The North Country Music Magazine face of country music award along with many American Awards like The Nebraska Singer/Songwriter award also to Star alongside Tania Tucker on American TV and American commercials such as the Durango Boots commercials which are still shown today.
Widely known as Noel Dillon and the Foster Boys they often topped the bi
ll at most of the major events, always bringing the roof down at places like Skipton. Noels fans are still to this day buying his songs and missing him off the scene.
Mum wasn't only well known for her relentless driving force behind my father and the many country music festivals they later went on to stage, like the crazy American Adventure or the up market Trentham Gardens, she was also never afraid to give young new talent a shot. Many of yesterdays youngsters enjoyed their fame and some still do like Glen Mitchel and Blue Orchid to name a few, thanks to mum and the support she gave them in their early careers.
Obviously I personally would love to see her relentless love and support remembered, but I also know that many many other fan's, supporters, artist's, promoters will join me when I say, love her or not, those that knew her and remember her, have to admit that whatever she did, she did it well and always with her great love of British Country Music in not only her mind but also in that great big heart of hers.
